THE MAD ALCHEMY TRIP

The Mad Alchemy Trip is a psychedelic music caravan bringing together both veteran and cutting edge bands, drenched in liquid light by the Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show. Since 2008, Mad Alchemy has performed over 900 times at venues all over the world. Utilizing multiple overhead projectors, Lance Gordon and crew cover the bands in a living, rhythmic painting that draws both the audience and the performers into a synesthetic wonderland.

LSD and The Search For God

"LSD and the Search for God have become a cult band in their own right. Their sound weaves heavily around the shoegaze genre with both front-man Andy Liszt and guitarist, Chris Fifield congregating about 50 effects pedals between them, this positioned the duo as both elegant dancers as well as musicians - it was a real multi-discipline art.

As LSD and the Search for God took to the stage, faces curiously gazed upwards as the mass of effects pedals and musical equipment was packed tightly onto a stage that held five of the members of the group. Swirling jitters began to emerge from Fifield’s amplifier before the group came crashing in behind it, hurtling through tracks from the new EP. Songs such as ‘(I Don’t Think We Should) Take It Slow’ demonstrated their accuracy in finding the groove and the ease as to which LSD could capture the crowd’s imagination and attention. Bodies swayed in time with the gentle, fuzzy washes that wrapped their loving arms around you, it was a hazy red wine moment that was ultimately so immersive it had the potential to transport you to other realms.

The set bended and warped through psychedelic bliss, fuzzy wah effects shaked and vibrated the volume and sound of the guitars, every movement, tap and shimmy on-stage was essential, demonstrating the exceptionally careful musicianship of the duo. Songs such as ‘Starting Over’ evidenced the sensitive, delicate approach that LSD can often take.

Crazed and incensed punters at the front of the crowd dictated spaces to writhe themselves around in, one chap took to taking his top off, letting his spilling gut loose and continuing to throw his head towards the monitor, just incase it was not loud enough. It’s characters like this that make gigs so exciting, he personified the cultish appeal that LSD have and put some real endearment into the show.

LSD and the Search for God came about and then instantly descended into obscurity allowing them to be every hipster’s hard-on. What they proved tonight though was their utter worth and credit to the shoegaze genre, they add their own, distinct flavour on a genre that can often be so overwhelmed with try-hards. After meeting them as a group afterwards, a perfect way to summarise is to mirror the words of Liszt and yell, “Right on, LSD!”

Stevenson Ranch Davidians

https://shamelesspromotion.haulix.com/Public/View/43666

Steeped in the aura of the perennially mythologized psychedelic culture of Southern California and making music influenced by the enduring essence of ‘60s psych, folk and soul, woven with strands of early American roots music, The Stevenson Ranch Davidians has, since 2006, revealed itself in shifting configurations.

While the lineup has continually coalesced around lead singer and songwriter Dwayne Seagraves, the collective has always had a guiding vision and goal: to create music that seeks to simultaneously demystify and deify the human experience.

‘Amerikana’ represents a new direction for the band, where the dreamy, flowing sound of albums past is infused with a fresh sense of inspiration, energy and purpose. This is an eclectic, yet cohesive, set of songs that glorify the human spirit while condemning those who seek to destroy it.

Seagraves states that Amerikana also celebrates what he views as true magic: human will put to action. Through his songs, he hopes to convey the sense that human beings have been the sole source of all great insights and achievements throughout history, and that power originates from within individuals rather than from gods, governments or other external sources.

Jesus Sons

Jesus Sons are a quintet from Los Angeles, CA. Coming from the city of angels, they do their own thing and let the good times roll. With similar sounds to the urban mayhem of The Velvet Underground to the relaxed spacious skies groove of New Riders of the Purple Sage they bring a hell of a party to each show. They will be on tour for their third album "Easy" this summer.

Dream Phases

Dream Phases is a Los Angeles-based outfit whose songs blend classic 60s/70s rock, country & soul with modern noise pop. Lead singer Brandon Graham started the band with a handful of home recordings he compiled in the short lulls between tours with The Relationship (Brian Bell of Weezer), The Blank Tapes, Nacosta, Korey Dane and others.

Dream Phases recently released their debut EP, Maybe Tomorrow, on Lolipop Records in March. Inspired by the works of Syd Barrett, Neil Young and Elliott Smith (among others), Maybe Tomorrow was recorded and produced by Graham along with Jason Quever and Joel Jerome.

In January the band hosted a weekly residency at Harvard & Stone, and in March toured the southwest on their way to Austin for official showcases at SXSW. To bring the music to life on stage, Graham hand-selected a posse of his favorite LA-based musicians – including his brother, Shane, on drums. This July/August, Dream Phases will embark on a national tour, with the Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show, in support of Maybe Tomorrow.
